Head Coach Scott Flemming

Scott Flemming is entering his fifteenth season at the helm of the Cougar basketball program. During his fourteen seasons at MVNU, Flemming has compiled an overall record of 278-182 (.604 winning percentage), the most wins of any coach in the program's history.

   Over the past eight seasons, MVNU has compiled one of the best records in the NAIA with a 189-81 mark (.700). The Cougars have won one National Christian College Athletic Association national title (2001-2002), finished as the NCCAA national runner-up (2003-2004), and finished third at another NCCAA National Tournament. The team has also made three appearances in the NAIA Division II National Tournament during that span. In addition, MVNU has won two American Mideast Conference Tournament titles and earned the program's first regular-season conference title. The team has also consistently been ranked in the NAIA Division II Top 25 poll.

   For his efforts in guiding the Cougars, Flemming has earned two National Coach of the Year awards (NAIA Division II in 1998 and NCCAA in 2000). He was also the Mid-Ohio Conference Coach of the Year in 1998. In the past nine years alone, he has helped to produce 10 different NAIA Division II All-Americans.

   After serving as an assistant coach at both Wheaton (Ill.) College and the University of South Alabama, an NCAA Division I school, and then as the head coach at Nyack (N.Y.) College where he posted a 43-47 mark in three years, Flemming returned to MVNU in 1990. In addition to coaching, he is also the school's athletic director.

   Flemming, who is a native of Akron and a 1980 graduate of MVNU, resides in Mount Vernon with his wife, Chawn, and their three children, Preston, Bryn, and Victoria.
