MVNC survived a cold shooting night to down Shawnee State 75-70 in American Mideast Conference action. MVNC shot just 39.7 percent from the field (25-of-63), but the Cougars nailed 17-of-22 free throw attempts (77.3 percent) to notch their 20th victory of the season. Adam Stevens led the way with game-highs of 27 points, 13 rebounds, and seven assists, while Kenny Chaffin posted a double-double with 17 points and a career-high 11 rebounds. Andy Gast tossed in 10 points, and Matt Keller scored all seven of his points in the final 1:31 of the game. The Cougars pulled out a hard-fought 82-80 American Mideast Conference at Walsh as MVNC handed the Cavaliers their first home loss of the season. With starting guard Phil Argento sidelined with an ankle injury, Kenny Chaffin helped to pick up the slack with a game-high 21 points and a career-high 11 rebounds to lead the Cougars. Andy Gast added a career-high 20 points, while Adam Stevens finished with 11 points and six rebounds. MVNC rebounded from its first American Mideast Conference loss of the season with a 113-80 rout of Urbana in conference action. Phil Argento led seven Cougars in double figures with 21 points, while Adam Stevens, Jon Ware, and Lenny Foyer added 15 points apiece with Ware blocking five shots.
