Throughout the course of the 2009-2010 season, MVNU
sophomore post Scott Hilbert will write a weekly blog about what is
happening with the team. "Getting Ready
to Tip off the Season" (posted on
November 6, 2009)
Hello Cougar Nation!
My name is Scott Hilbert and from this point
on I'll be keeping you inside the huddle and
up close to the action of your Mount Vernon
Nazarene Men's Basketball Team.
Starting now, I will be introducing
different members of our team to everyone
one out in Cougar Nation to get to know.
Today, you get a bonus introduction.
You will get to know myself and transfer
senior Austin Kaiser.
Some quick information about myself:
Name: Scott Hilbert
Number: 52
Year: Sophomore
Major: Business Management Minor: Youth
Ministry
Nickname: SH2H, Hilby
Hometown: Plain City, Ohio
Favorite Place to Eat: Chipotle
Favorite College Team: Ohio State University
(after the Cougars, of course)
Favorite Activity other than basketball:
Fishing, Hunting and Karate
Relationship Status: Engaged to Haley
Elizabeth Dunham (sophomore at MVNU)
One Quick Fact: I am obsessed with the
Number 52 - it is a little ridiculous. Ask
me about it some time.

Here's the other introduction:
Name: Austin Kaiser (above left)
Number: 14
Year: Big bad senior
Major: Sports Marketing General Business
Nickname: AK, Kaiser
Hometown: Milford, Indiana
Favorite Place to Eat: McDonalds or Just In
Time. Just In Time is a local restaurant in
Indiana that has the best wings in a 50 mile
radius according to AK
Favorite College Activity: Sleeping and
Taking Ice Baths for his old rusty bones
Relationship Status: Single and taking
applications
One Quick Fact: AK is unofficially a Bass
Master and also a professional Heely (shoes
with wheels but not rollerblades)
extraordinaire.

As you can tell by AK’s
answers to my questions, his sense of humor
is almost as big as his passion of
basketball. He has been in the game
for just over two decades now and he still
loves every minute of it. Kaiser told
me his favorite part about playing
basketball is the team atmosphere and being
with guys. AK transferred from Grace
College in Indiana to continue his career
here at MVNU. Austin told me he thinks
transferring to MVNU was the best possible
decision he could have made. "I was
really uneasy about transferring at first,”
he told me. "I wasn’t sure how I would
get along with the guys. After about two
days with the guys, I could tell it was the
right decision to come here.” On a final
note, AK also wants the Cougar Nation to
know that he loves his roommates as much as
he loves rocking out to country music,
especially Taylor Swift and Eric Church.
Our Cougar Outlook for
the Season:
I can’t believe that
the start of our season is less than 24
hours away. It seems like last week we were
up running 2 ½ miles at 6 a.m. I guess
that was over 7 weeks ago at this point.
As a team, we are ready to rock and roll.
We have come a long way as a whole. From the
early days of conditioning to our team
retreat, our Cougar squad has begun to
define the word 'team'. I told Coach
Moore last week about our team and how much
we get along. I have played on a lot
of different teams in my athletic career,
but never have I played on a team like this.
We work as a team very well, we try and make
each other better, and we all are great
friends. This year is going to be special.
We are a unique team of guys and we are all
ready to bring the heat against Indiana Tech
in our opener tomorrow!
Alright Cougar Nation
that’s it for now. I hope to write to
you and tell you all about the games here
soon.
Peace Out!
