JACKSON, Mich. (9-24-2011) - The Mount Vernon Nazarene University men's golf team closed out the fall portion of its schedule on Friday and Saturday as the Cougars finished fifth out of six teams at the Bill Bockwitz Collegiate Invitational sponsored by Spring Arbor (Mich.) University at Cascades Golf Course.

Madonna (Mich.) University claimed the team title with a two-day total of 604 to edge out Cornerstone (Mich.) University (609) and host Spring Arbor (612). Indiana Institute of Technology (622), MVNU (624), and Rochester (Mich.) College (625) rounded out the six-team field.

Individually, Ben VanBiesbrouck of Cornerstone captured medalist honors with a one-over-par 145 to nip Madonna's Vince Carango (146) by one stroke. Junior Matt Crouch led the Cougars with a 149 as he finished fifth out of 40 golfers overall. Junior Randon McNeil (157), freshman Brody Harwell (159), sophomore Aaron Hale (159), and sophomore Jake Lawson (165) rounded out the scoring for MVNU.

The Cougars will return to action in the spring with the annual spring trip of practice rounds set for March to get them prepared for that portion of their schedule.
