JACKSON, Mich. (9-24-2011) - The Mount
Vernon Nazarene University men's golf team
closed out the fall portion of its schedule
on Friday and Saturday as the Cougars
finished fifth out of six teams at the Bill
Bockwitz Collegiate Invitational sponsored
by Spring Arbor (Mich.) University at
Cascades Golf Course.
Madonna (Mich.)
University claimed the team title with a
two-day total of 604 to edge out Cornerstone
(Mich.) University (609) and host Spring
Arbor (612). Indiana Institute of Technology
(622), MVNU (624), and Rochester (Mich.)
College (625) rounded out the six-team
field.
Individually, Ben
VanBiesbrouck of Cornerstone captured
medalist honors with a one-over-par 145 to
nip Madonna's Vince Carango (146) by one
stroke. Junior Matt Crouch led the Cougars
with a 149 as he finished fifth out of 40
golfers overall. Junior Randon McNeil (157),
freshman Brody Harwell (159), sophomore
Aaron Hale (159), and sophomore Jake Lawson
(165) rounded out the scoring for MVNU.
The Cougars will return to action in the
spring with the annual spring trip of
practice rounds set for March to get them
prepared for that portion of their schedule.
