MARION, Ind. (9-13-2011) - The Mount Vernon
Nazarene University men's golf team finished
seventh out of nine teams at the Indiana
Wesleyan University Invitational held on
Monday and Tuesday at Meshingomesia Country
Club.
Bethel
(Ind.) College won the team title with a
two-day total of 594 to easily hold off Holy
Cross (Ind.) University (605) and the host
Wildcats of Indiana Wesleyan (609). The
Cougars finished with a two-day total of
635, but they played much better the second
day going from a 325 first round to a 310
final round.
Individually, Bethel's
Brady Klotz earned medalist honors after
carding a two-day, even-par total of 144 and
beating Trey Stoll of Grace (Ind.) College
(also a 144) on the first hole of a sudden
death playoff. Junior Matt Crouch (left) led MVNU with a
seventh-place finish as he posted a 151.
Freshman Brody Harwell (155), junior Randon
McNeil (164), sophomore Aaron Hale (166),
and sophomore Jake Lawson (171) rounded out
the scoring for the Cougars.
MVNU
will return to action on Friday and Saturday
at the Malone University Invitational to be
held at Tannenhauf Golf Course in Alliance,
Ohio.
