The Mount Vernon Nazarene University men’s
golf team finished 10th out of 19 teams at
the Southeastern Kentucky Intercollegiate
Invitational held on Thursday and Friday at
Crooked Creek Golf Club.
Lindenwood
(Mo.) University, ranked No. 7 in the latest
NAIA national poll, won the two-day event
with a 607 to edge runner-up Ohio Dominican
University (611). No. 12 Campbellsville
(Ky.) University (617), Lee (Tenn.)
University (622), and No. 18 Lindsey Wilson
(Ky.) College (622) rounded out the top
five. The Cougars finished with a 634 to
finish one stroke out of a tie for eighth
place.
Joshua Lawson of Lee edged Brock
Robillard from Lindenwood in a playoff as
both players finished with a two-over-par
146 after 36 holes. MVNU was led by senior
Tim Hepner, who finished tied for 16th at
154. Senior Preston Knight (left)
was one stroke behind at 155, while senior
Anthony Savage carded a 160. Juniors Tyler
Tinch and Jared Schlabach rounded out the
scoring by each firing a 169.
The Cougars will return to action Monday
and Tuesday at the Cedarville University
Invitational. The first day will be played
at Beavercreek Country Club, while the
second day will take place at Country Club
of the North.
