May 20-23, at NAIA National Tournament
MVNU closed out one of the best seasons in school history by finishing 21st out of 27 teams at the NAIA National Tournament.  The Cougars fired a three-day total of 933 and missed the cut for the fourth and final round.  Oklahoma City University won its third straight national title with a four-day total of 1164 to beat second-place Berry (Ga.) College by 12 strokes.  Nathanael Petry led MVNU with a 227, while Scott Snyder finished at 231.  Brian Bumgarner and Chad Gress each shot a 240, and Joel Meeks rounded out the scoring at 243.  Team and Individual Results


May 1-2, at American Mideast Conference/NAIA Region IX Tournament
The Cougars earned an automatic berth in the NAIA National Tournament as MVNU fired a three-round team-total of 896 to edge out Malone College (899) and win the AMC/NAIA Region IX Tournament at Apple Valley Golf Course. Brian Bumgarner fired a school-record four-under-par 212 that included a school-record four-under-par 68 over the final round to earn medalist and AMC Player of the Year honors. Nathanael Petry (224) and Chad Gress (227) joined Bumgarner on the All-AMC Team, while Scott Snyder and Joel Meeks rounded out the scoring at 235 and 236 respectively. Head coach Mike Meeks was also named AMC Coach of the Year.  Team and Individual Results


April 29, at Saint Vincent (PA) College Invitational
MVNU made it three tournament titles in a row as the Cougars shot a 296 at Totteridge Golf Club to win the seven-team Saint Vincent Invitational by 17 strokes over runner-up LaRoche (PA) College (313).  Nathanael Petry earned medalist honors with a one-under-par 71, while Scott Snyder tied as the runner-up with a 74.  Brian Bumgarner and Chad Gress carded a 75 and a 76 respectively, and Joel Meeks rounded out the scoring with a 79.  David Yingst fired a 75 as an at-large performer, while Raynard Martin and Ben Sharrock each finished with an 89.  Team and Individual Results


April 21-22, at Cedarville University Invitational
The Cougars won their second straight tournament and their third overall of the spring as MVNU fired a two-day total of 626 to easily out-distance second-place Tiffin University (647) and the rest of the nine-team field at the Cedarville Invitational.  Chad Gress earned medalist honors for the Cougars with a 153, while Joel Meeks tied for third overall at 156.  Scott Snyder and Brian Bumgarner each carded a 159, and Nathanael Petry rounded out the scoring with a 161.  Raynard Martin, playing as an at-large participant, also posted a 164.  Team and Individual Results


April 18-19, MVNU INVITATIONAL
MVNU put together its best tournament performance of the season as the Cougars fired a school-record 292 on Friday and a 297 on Saturday to win their own invitational by 24 strokes over second-place Walsh University (613), ranked #23 in the latest NAIA national poll.  Joel Meeks earned medalist honors with a two-under-par 142, while Nathanael Petry and Scott Snyder made the All-Tournament Team by shooting a 147 and a 148 respectively.  Chad Gress carded a 152, and Brian Bumgarner rounded out the scoring with a 166.  Five other MVNU players participated as at-large entries:  Raynard Martin (154), David Yingst (169), Ben Sharrock (174), Chris Ebersole (174), and Bryce Arndt (180).  Team and Individual Results


April 14-15, at Walsh University Invitational
The Cougars finished third out of eight teams at the Walsh Invitational with a 643 as the Cougars finished behind Malone College (606) and the host Cavaliers (615), who are ranked #23 in the latest NAIA national poll.  Brian Bumgarner led MVNU with a 157, while Chad Gress carded a 159.  Scott Snyder shot a 161, and Nathanael Petry and Joel Meeks rounded out the scoring with a 167 and a 168 respectively.  Raynard Martin, who participated as an at-large player, had the fourth lowest score in the tournament at 152, while David Yingst carded a 164 as an at large performer.  Team and Individual Results


April 7-8, at Point Loma Nazarene (CA) University Invitational
MVNU finished fifth out of seven teams at the Point Loma Nazarene Invitational with a 909 as the Cougars finished behind three teams ranked or receiving votes in the latest NAIA national poll (#16 Point Loma Nazarene, #6 The Master's (CA), and California State-Monterey Bay) and one NCAA Division II regionally-ranked team (California-San Diego).  Brian Bumgarner paced MVNU with a 224, while Chad Gress and Scott Snyder each fired a 225.  Joel Meeks finished with a 243, and Nathanael Petry rounded out the scoring with a 245.  Team and Individual Results


April 3-4, at Southeastern Kentucky Intercollegiate Invitational
The Cougars fired a two-day total of 603 at the Southeastern Kentucky Intercollegiate Invitational to finish behind only Walters State Community (TN) College (592), a junior college team, as MVNU went 12-0 against four-year schools including 5-0 against teams ranked or receiving votes in the latest NAIA national poll.  Scott Snyder (148), Chad Gress (150), and Nathanael Petry (150) were all named to the All-Tournament Team for the Cougars, while Joel Meeks (155) and Brian Bumgarner (157) rounded out the scoring.  Team and Individual Results


March 31, at Shawnee State University Invitational
MVNU picked up its first tournament title of the spring as the Cougars edged Tiffin University based on the fifth-man score as each team shot a 316 at the nine-team Shawnee State Invitational.  MVNU's Brian Bumgarner earned medalist honors with a 76, while Nathanael Petry tied for second at 78.  Chad Gress and Joel Meeks each carded an 81, and Scott Snyder rounded out the scoring with an 86.  David Yingst and Raynard Martin also participated as at-large players and posted an 80 and an 83 respectively.  Team and Individual Results


March 28, at Malone College Invitational
The Cougars fired a team-total of 311 to finish eighth out of 13 teams at the Malone Invitational.  The host Pioneers won the event, which was shortened to one day due to rain, as they posted a 293 to edge Marian (IN) College and Walsh University, who each shot a 295.  Brian Bumgarner and Scott Snyder each shot a 77 to lead MVNU, while Chad Gress carded a 78.  Nathanael Petry and David Yingst rounded out the scoring with a 79 and an 82 respectively.  Team and Individual Results


March 20-21, at Glenville State (WV) College Invitational
MVNU finished fourth out of 13 teams at the Glenville State Invitational as the Cougars fired a two-day total of 612 at the Oxbow Country Club.  Host Glenville State College won the event with a 591, while Walsh University was second at 604.  Nathanael Petry finished in a tie for third place overall with a 147 and was named to the All-Tournament Team, while Brian Bumgarner carded a 156.  Chad Gress and Scott Snyder each fired a 159, and Joel Meeks rounded out the scoring with a 160.  David Yingst also registered a 152 as an at-large player. October 14, at NCCAA National Tournament
The Cougars fired a team-total of 312 to finish third out of 14 teams at the 2002 National Christian College Athletic Association National Tournament.  The event, which was shortened to just one day due to heavy rains, was held at Cross Creek Plantation in Seneca, South Carolina.  The Master's (CA) College won the title with a 298, while North Greenville (SC) College was second at 308.  Nathanael Petry and Scott Snyder paced MVNU as they each fired a 77.  Brian Bumgarner and David Yingst each shot a 79, while Chad Gress rounded out the scoring with an 80.
