May 25, at NAIA National Tournament
The Cougars closed out one of the best seasons in MVNC golf history as the team tied for 12th place at the NAIA National Tournament by posting a four-day total of 1203 at the Isleta Eagle Golf Course. Oklahoma City University, the top-ranked team in the NAIA, won the national title with a team-total of 1176. Brian Bumgarner became the first Cougar golfer to earn NAIA All-American honors as he finished in a tie for 13th place after a 78 gave him a 295 for the tournament. Chad Gress just missed being an NAIA Honorable Mention All-American as his 77 put him in a tie for 31st place at 298. May 24, at NAIA National Tournament
MVNC shot the second best score of the third round at the NAIA National Tournament with a team-total of 294 as the Cougars moved up to 11th place at the Isleta Eagle Golf Course with a tournament-total of 897. Oklahoma City University remained atop the standings with a 296 for a three-day total of 878. Brian Bumgarner fired the low round of the day for the tournament with a four-under-par 68 as he moved into sixth place with a three-day total of 217. May 23, at NAIA National Tournament
The Cougars struggled during the second round of the NAIA National Tournament as MVNC slipped from seventh place to 15th place after firing a team-total of 303 at the Isleta Eagle Golf Course. Oklahoma City University moved into first place after shooting a four-under-par 284 as a team for a two-day total of 582. Brian Bumgarner and Nathanael Petry led the Cougars by each shooting a one-over-par 73. May 22, at NAIA National Tournament
MVNC, making only its second appearance in the NAIA National Tournament in the program's history, had a strong showing on the first day of the tournament as the Cougars fired a team-total of 300 to stand in a tie for seventh place just eight strokes behind the lead of Berry (GA) College at 292. Chad Gress led MVNC with a one-under-par 71 that was just one shot off the individual lead. Matt Durst fired a 75, while Brian Bumgarner and Nathanael Petry carded a 76 and a 78 respectively. May 3-4, at NAIA Region IX Tournament
The Cougars finished third out of 10 teams at the NAIA Region IX Tournament as MVNC posted a 54-hole team-total of 898. Defending NAIA national champion Malone College, ranked second in the NAIA, won the tournament with an 886, while Walsh University was second at 892. Chad Gress and Todd Mazur each made the American Mideast Conference Team as they fired a 218 and a 225 respectively. April 24-25, at Cedarville University Invitational
MVNC put together a strong second day at the Cedarville University Invitational, but it was not enough as the Cougars finished second out of six teams with a team-total of 621 as Shawnee State University (618) edged MVNC by three strokes. Individually, Chad Gress finished third overall with a 149 that included a two-under-par 70 on the second day. Todd Mazur shot a 152, while Brian Bumgarner carded a 159. April 21, MOUNT VERNON NAZARENE COLLEGE INVITATIONAL
The Cougars won their own invitational as MVNC fired a team-total of 457 to finish nine shots ahead of Shawnee State University (466) in the one-day tournament that consisted of 27 holes. Chad Gress earned medalist honors by firing a one-over-par 109, while Nathanael Petry was the runner-up at 114. Matt Durst finished in a tie for fifth place at 116, and Brian Bumgarner was 11th at 119. Todd Mazur rounded out the scoring with a 129. April 16-17, at Walsh University Invitational
MVNC finished second out of seven teams at the two-day Walsh University Invitational as the Cougars fired a team-total of 636 to trail just the host Cavaliers (615). April 12-13, at Urbana University Invitational
The Cougars won the nine-team Urbana University Invitational by 14 strokes as MVNC fired a two-day total of 616 to easily outdistance runner-up Walsh University (630). It was the second tournament title of the year for the Cougars. The MVNC "B" team also finished sixth at 677. Individually, Brian Bumgarner led the Cougars by finishing as the runner-up at 153, while Chad Gress was third overall at 155. Todd Mazur and Matt Durst tied for fourth place at 156, and Tim Hirschy rounded out the scoring with a 157. The MVNC "B" team was led by Nathanael Petry, who shot a 158. April 5-6, at Southeastern Kentucky Intercollegiate Invitational
MVNC finished eighth out of 17 teams at the very strong Southeastern Kentucky Collegiate Invitational by firing a two-day team-total of 618. Life University won the tournament by posting an outstanding two-day total of 591. Brian Bumgarner led the Cougars by carding a 150, while Chad Gress shot a 153. April 2, at Shawnee State University Invitational
The Cougars finished as the runner-up at the five-team Shawnee State Invitational by firing a team-total of 303 to trail only Urbana University (296) by seven strokes. Brian Bumgarner and Matt Durst fired a 74 apiece to finish in a tie for second place individually. March 30-31, at Malone College Invitational
MVNC finished fourth out of 10 teams at the Malone Invitational by firing a two-day total of 608 to trail the host and defending NAIA national champion Pioneers (581), Walsh University (605), and University of Charleston (607). March 22-23, at Glenville State (WV) College Invitational
The Cougars led from start to finish as MVNC won the Glenville State Invitational by firing a two-day total of 604 to finish ahead of 15 other teams in a strong field. Nathanael Petry earned All-Tournament Team honors by finishing in a tie for fourth place overall with a 149. Matt Durst and Todd Mazur tied for tenth place with a 152, while Chad Gress and Brian Bumgarner each carded a 154 to finish in a tie for 15th place. Team Results
October 3-4, at National Christian College Athletic Association National Tournament
MVNC finished second out of 15 teams at the NCCAA National Tournament as the Cougars compiled a two-day total of 630 to finish behind defending national champion and host Malone College, which posted a team-total of 607.
