May 4-5, at NAIA Region IX Tournament
The Cougars finished third out of nine teams at the NAIA Region IX Tournament. MVNC fired a 54-hole team-total of 925 at the Apple Valley Golf Course to finish behind Malone College (886) and the University of Findlay (913). The Pioneers, ranked #4 in the latest NAIA national poll, established a new tournament record with their score. Individually, Chad Gress led the Cougars with a 224, while Matt Durst shot a 228 as both players were named to the American Mideast Conference Team after finishing eighth and ninth overall. April 25, at Cedarville College Invitational
MVNC continued to play well as the Cougars won the Cedarville Invitational at the Country Club of the North for their first tournament victory of the year. MVNC shot a team-total of 309 to finish ahead of Shawnee State University (312) in the five-team event. Matt Durst and Chad Gress led the team as they each fired a 76. Sam McGraw carded a 78, while Todd Mazur was right behind him with a 79. Steve Hesson rounded out the scoring with an 86. Team Results
April 21-22, MOUNT VERNON NAZARENE COLLEGE INVITATIONAL
The host Cougars came up one stroke short as MVNC shot a season-best 608 to finish one stroke behind Malone College, ranked #4 in the latest NAIA national poll, who won the eight-team tournament at the Apple Valley Golf Course with a 607. Chad Gress led the Cougars with a 150 to finish two strokes off the individual lead. Sam McGraw and Matt Durst recorded a 151 and 153 respectively, while Steve Hesson and Todd Mazur each carded a 158. Team Results
April 17-18, at Walsh University Invitational
MVNC finished second out of eight teams at the Walsh Invitational as the Cougars fired a two-day total of 641 at the Prestwick and Raintree Country Clubs. Malone College, ranked #4 in the NAIA, won the tournament with a team-total of 608, while the host Cavaliers were third at 649. Steve Hesson led MVNC with a 154, while Chad Gress was right behind at 156. Matt Durst fired a 166 in his first action of the spring, and Sam McGraw and Todd Mazur rounded out the scoring with a 168 and 169 respectively. Team Results
April 10, at Tiffin University Invitational
The Cougars had a good showing at the Tiffin Invitational as MVNC finished second out of seven teams with a 319 at the Red Hawk Golf Club. NCAA Division III nationally-ranked Ohio Wesleyan University won the tournament with a team-total of 314. Individually, Sam McGraw led the Cougars with a runner-up finish of 75. Steve Hesson fired an 80, while Chad Gress and Todd Mazur each shot an 82. Tim Hirschy rounded out the scoring with an 86. Team Results
April 7-8, at Ashland University Invitational
MVNC finished seventh out of 19 teams at the rain-shortened Ashland Invitational. The scheduled two-day event at the Brookside Golf Course was cut to just nine holes on Friday due to the weather. Ferris State (MI) University was the winner at 142, while the Cougars fired a team-total of 154. Chad Gress led the way with a 37, while Sam McGraw was right behind him with a 38. April 6, at Urbana University Invitational
The Cougars finished third out of ten teams at the Urbana Invitational played in wind gusts of nearly 50 miles per hour at the Woodlands Golf Course. MVNC compiled a team-total of 334 to finish behind Muskingum College (323) and the host Blue Knights (326). Chad Gress led the team with an 81, while Sam McGraw carded an 83. April 3, at Shawnee State University Invitational
Despite very wet conditions, MVNC finished second at the Shawnee State Invitational at the Elks Country Club. The Cougars, who compiled a team-total of 310, finished just two strokes behind the host Bears (308). Freshman Chad Gress claimed medalist honors by firing a 74, while Sam McGraw was a runner-up with a 75. The Cougars finished third out of seven teams at the Malone Invitational played at the Tannenhauf Golf Course. MVNC fired a two-day total of 625 to finish behind Malone (605), ranked #5 in the NAIA, and Ashland University (617). March 23-24, at Glenville State (WV) College Invitational
MVNC began the spring portion of its schedule by finishing eighth out of 17 teams at the Glenville State Invitational at the Oxbow Golf and Country Club. The Cougars finished with a two-day total of 657 to finish 32 strokes behind NAIA nationally-ranked Malone College, who posted a 625 in winning the event. Sam McGraw led the team by finishing 18th overall with a 159. Chad Gress carded a 163, and Steve Hesson finished with a 166. October 5-6, at National Christian College Athletic Association National Tournament
The Cougars took home the third-place plaque at the 1999 NCCAA National Tournament as MVNC fired a two-day total of 644 at the Raintree Country Club. Malone shot a 603 to win the NCCAA National title, while Bartlesville Wesleyan (OK) finished second out of 14 teams with a 635. Sophomore Sam McGraw earned NCCAA All-American honors by finishing seventh overall with a 153 to lead the Cougars. Todd Mazur and Matt Durst carded a 162 and a 163 respectively, while Chad Gress posted a 166 and Steve Hesson finished with a 169. Team Results
