MVNC wrapped up its fall season with the Cougars' best performance as MVNC finished second out of a strong 16-team field at the Powerade Collegiate Golf Preview held at River Greens Golf Course. The Cougars fired a two-day 52-hole total of 1166 to finish just two strokes behind Charleston (WV), who carded a five-man total of 1164. Freshman Chad Gress claimed medalist honors by firing a six-over-par 222 to lead MVNC. Steve Hesson and Sam McGraw tied for eighth place overall with a 231 each, while Todd Mazur carded a 239. Matt Durst and Tim Hirschy rounded out the scoring with a 247 and a 257 respectively. Team Results
October 5-6, at National Christian College Athletic Association National Tournament
The Cougars took home the third-place plaque at the 1999 NCCAA National Tournament as MVNC fired a two-day total of 644. Malone shot a 603 to win the NCCAA National title, while Bartlesville Wesleyan (OK) finished second out of 14 teams with a 635. Sophomore Sam McGraw earned NCCAA All-American honors by finishing seventh overall with a 153 to lead the Cougars. Todd Mazur and Matt Durst carded a 162 and a 163 respectively, while Chad Gress posted a 166 and Steve Hesson finished with a 169. Team Results
September 24-25, at Malone College Fall Golf Invitational
MVNC finished fourth out of 11 teams at the Malone College Fall Golf Invitational held at Tannenhauf Golf Course. Malone's "A" and "B" teams finished first and second with a 601 and a 625 respectively, while Ohio Valley (WV) was third with a 628. The Cougars posted a 631 as junior Matt Durst led the way by claiming medalist honors with a 146. Steve Hesson shot a 160, Todd Mazur carded a 162, and Chad Gress posted a 165. September 15, at Burger King Intercollegiate Invitational
The Cougars finished third out of 12 teams at the Burger King Intercollegiate Invitational held at the Woodridge Plantation Golf Club. MVNC fired a 301 to finish behind Glenville State (WV) with 293 and Fairmont State (WV) with 298. Todd Mazur led the team with a 72 as he was named to the All-Tournament Team. Sam McGraw carded a 75, and Matt Durst and Chad Gress each posted a 77. Steve Hesson rounded out the scoring with a 78. Team Results
September 13-14, at Glenville State (WV) College Autumn Classic
MVNC finished 11th out of 15 teams as the Cougars opened up the fall portion of their schedule at the Glenville State (WV) College Autumn Classic. Charleston (WV) won the tournament with a team-total of 607 to edge host Glenville State by two strokes. MVNC carded a team-total of 645 as junior Matt Durst led the Cougars with a 155. Steve Hesson fired a 159, while Sam McGraw shot a 166. Todd Mazur and Chad Gress closed out the scoring with a 168 and a 169 respectively. Team Results
