2006 MVNU Cross Country Meet Recaps
November 11, at National Christian College
Athletic Association Meet
MVNU finished 13th out of 22 teams in the men's race with 371 points.
Malone College won its second straight NCCAA
national title and its 17th overall as the
Pioneers had 52 points to barely edge out
host Cedarville University (57 points). Mark Porostosky led
the Cougars by finishing 30th out of 153 runners in 28:28 on the muddy eight-kilometer course. Zach Tuggle (29:05,
46th),
Dustin Wine (31:27, 91st), Tim Grubb (32:13, 100th), Brandon Steffee
(34:00, 115th), and Ron Hook (34:17, 117th)
rounded out the scoring.
MEN'S RESULTS In the
women's race, Cedarville finished with 46 points to edge out Malone (59
points) for the Lady Jackets' sixth NCCAA
national title. MVNU registered 457 points to finish 14th
out of 22 teams on the five-kilometer
course. Lauren Hall led the Lady
Cougars by finishing 69th out of 156 runners
in 22:05. Jillian Headley (23:29,
97th), Sarah Parks (24:00, 105th), Mallorey
Newland (24:10, 107th), Amanda Watkins
(24:34, 112th), Brittany Dissinger (25:47,
130th), and Beth Wilson (29:15, 147th) rounded
out the scoring.
WOMEN'S RESULTS
November 4, at American Mideast
Conference/NAIA Region IX Meet
MVNU finished 11th out of 15 teams in the men's race with 306 points.
Malone College won the event for the 14th straight year and the 35th
overall with 29 points to edge runner-up Cedarville University (39
points). Mark Porostosky led
the Cougars by finishing 30th out of 132 runners in a school-record
26:58 on the eight-kilometer course. Zach Tuggle (28:09, 63rd),
Dustin Wine (29:24, 85th), Tim Grubb (29:36, 90th), Brandon Steffee
(32:07, 110th) and Ron Hook (32:33, 113th) rounded out the scoring with Tuggle,
Grubb, Steffee, and Hook posting personal bests.
MEN'S RESULTS In the
women's race, Cedarville (22 points) repeated as champions and claimed
the title for the 10th time in the past 15 seasons as the Lady Jackets
edged Malone (39 points) to win the 14-team race. MVNU registered
335 points to finish 11th on the
five-kilometer course. Lauren Hall led the Lady Cougars by
finishing 61st out of 131 runners in a school-record 21:11. Sarah Parks (22:30,
85th), Jillian Headley (22:52, 90th), Amanda Watkins (23:15, 95th),
Mallorey Newland (24:14, 101st), and Brittany Dissinger (24:50, 111th) rounded
out the scoring. Parks, Headley, Watkins, and Dissinger each
posted new personal bests.
WOMEN'S RESULTS
October 13, at Wilmington College
Invitational
MVNU finished 10th out of 15 teams in the men's race with 296 points.
The University of the Cumberlands (KY) won the event with 40 points to
edge runner-up Denison University (58 points). Mark Porostosky led
the Cougars by finishing 25th out of 167 runners in a school-record
27:23 on the eight-kilometer course. Zach Tuggle (28:55, 67th),
Dustin Wine (28:59, 73rd), Chris Au (30:31, 104th), Tim Grubb (30:43,
109th), and Brandon Steffee (33:32, 149th) rounded out the scoring with
Tuggle, Wine, and Grubb posting personal bests.
MEN'S RESULTS In the
women's race, Anderson (IN) University (33 points) easily out-distanced
runner-up Lindsey Wilson (KY) College (86 points) to win the 15-team
race. MVNU registered 351 points to finish 13th on the
five-kilometer course. Lauren Hall led the Lady Cougars by
finishing 51st out of 137 runners in 22:39. Sarah Parks (23:15, 66th), Mallorey Newland (23:46, 79th), Jillian Headley (24:32, 93rd), Brittany
Dissinger (25:55, 117th place), and Beth Wilson (26:27, 124th) rounded
out the scoring.

October 6, at All-Ohio Invitational
(Host: Ohio Wesleyan University)
MVNU finished 35th out of 42 teams in the men's race with 996 points.
The Ohio State University won the event with 42 points to out-distance
runner-up University of Cincinnati (87 points). Mark Porostosky
led the Cougars by finishing 98th out of 286 runners in 28:02 on the
hilly eight-kilometer course. Dustin Wine (30:25, 216th), Zach Tuggle (30:25,
218th), Chris Au (31:02, 227th), Tim Grubb (33:07, 253rd), Brandon Steffee (35:07,
264th), and Ron Hook (36:26, 272nd)
rounded out the scoring.

TEAM RESULTS In the women's race, Ohio University won the
event with 63 points to edge out Ohio State (73). The Lady Cougars
finished 36th out of 38 teams on the five-kilometer course. Lauren
Hall paced MVNU by finishing 207th out of 264 runners in 22:45.
Sarah Parks (23:49, 228th), Mallorey Newland (24:18, 234th), Jillian
Headley (24:23, 236th), Brittany Dissinger (25:53, 252nd), and Beth
Wilson (27:56, 263rd) rounded out the scoring with Dissinger posting a
new personal best.

September 23, at Otterbein College Invitational
MVNU finished 10th out of 12 teams in the men's race with 276 points.
Denison University won the event with 58 points to edge host Otterbein. Mark Porostosky
paced the Cougars by finishing 25th out of 152 runners in 27:58 on the
eight-kilometer course. Zach Tuggle (29:59, 79th), Dustin Wine
(30:13, 88th), Chris Au (31:22, 111th), Tim Grubb (33:02, 129th place),
and Brandon Steffee (34:18, 138th place) rounded out the scoring.
MEN'S
RESULTS In the women's race, Oberlin College won the 11-team
event with 30 points, while Mount Union College was second with 77
points. The Lady Cougars finished 10th on the six-kilometer course
with 274 points. Lauren Hall paced MVNU
by finishing 71st out of 112 runners in 28:02. Sarah Parks (28:44,
78th), Mallorey Newland
(29:15, 81th), Jillian Headley (29:17, 83rd), and Brittany Dissinger
(31:33, 101st) rounded out the finishes for the Lady Cougars.

September 16, at Cedarville
University Invitational
The Cougars finished 11th out of 13 teams in the men's race with 272
points. Host Cedarville, ranked 12th in the latest NAIA poll, won
the event with 39 points to edge out 25th-ranked University of the
Cumberlands (KY) on the sixth runner's finish. Mark Porostosky
paced MVNU by finishing 27th out of 129 runners in a school-record 27:26
on the eight-kilometer course. Dustin Wine (29:20, 69th place),
Chris Au (29:26, 71st place), Zach Tuggle (29:36, 74th place), and
Brandon Steffee (32:20, 102nd place) rounded out the scoring for the
Cougars by each posting a new personal best.
MEN'S
RESULTS In the women's race, host Cedarville, which is ranked
sixth in the latest NAIA poll, won the 15-team event with 33 points,
while Shawnee State University was second (66 points) and 24th-ranked
Berry (Ga.) College was third (77 points). MVNU was 12th with 350
points in the race. Lauren Hall paced the Lady Cougars by
coming in 77th out of 144 runners on the five-kilometer course in a new
school record time of 22:27. Sarah Parks (22:57, 84th place),
Mallorey Newland (23:37, 92nd place), Jillian Headley (23:41, 93rd
place), Brittany Dissinger (26:12, 127th place), and Beth Wilson (26:27,
128th place) rounded out the scoring for MVNU as they each shaved time
off their previous personal best.

September 1, at Shawnee State
University Invitational
After a 27-year absence of the sport, MVNU fielded a men's and women's
cross country team and got the 2006 season off and running at the
Shawnee State Invitational. In the men's race, host Shawnee State,
which received votes in the NAIA preseason poll, won the six-team event
with 20 points. Davis and Elkins (WV) College was second with 55
points, while the Cougars were third with 93 points. Mark
Porostosky led MVNU with a fourth-place finish out of 54 runners in a school-record 27:44
over the eight-kilometer course. Chris Au (30:22, 25th place),
Zach Tuggle (30:32, 26th place), Dustin Wine (31:06, 30th place),
Brandon Steffee (34:38, 45th place), and Ron Hook (38:52, 50th place)
rounded out the men's scoring.
MEN'S
RESULTS In the women's race, host Shawnee State, which
received votes in the NAIA preseason poll, won the five-team event with
18 points, while Georgetown (KY) College was second (38 points) and Ohio
Valley (WV) University was third (100 points). The Lady Cougars
were a close fourth with 101 points. Lauren Hall paced MVNU by
coming in 16th out of 49 runners on the five-kilometer course in 23:15.
Mallorey Newland (23:58, 21st place), Jillian Headley (24:13, 22nd
place), Sarah Parks (24:48, 26th place), Brittany Dissinger (29:10, 43rd
place), and Beth Wilson (29:22, 44th place) rounded out the women's
scoring.
