happening with the team.
"NCCAA
Nationals" (posted on
November 25, 2011)
The end has come. The 2011
cross country season is now over. It is so
crazy to think about - it seems like just
the other week we were all meeting up at
camp for the beginning of the season. And
since this was my last cross country season
ever, it makes me even more sad that it is
over.
We had our last meet, NCCAA
Nationals, this past weekend at Cedarville
University. It was an amazing November day
for a cross country race. It was probably
about 50 degrees and sunny, and if it hadn't
have been windy then it would have been the
perfect day to run.
We left for
Cedarville on Friday night. We left the
school at 4:00 and made a stop in Columbus
to eat dinner at Buca di Beppo's. It was
lots of fun to eat at Buca di Beppo's
because we all got to eat at one big table
together. We all shared the same food, and
the experience really brought us together as
a team.
We got to the hotel later
that night and hung out in our rooms until
we had team time. At team time, Kathleen
gave her testimony. It was neat to learn
about how running has played a part in her
life and to listen to her open up to us
about some of the struggles she has had. All
of the seniors also gave advice or said
thank you to the team, which was a
sentimental way to end our last team time of
the year.
The next morning we got up
and went to the course. We got there early
and had time to get loose and ready before
we had to run our race. Our women's team did
really well in the race. We finished 12th
out of the 25 teams that ran.
Lincoln Green finished first for our team
with a time of 20:01. Ashley Mast finished
in a 20:38 and Lindsey Minor was close after
her with a time of 20:46. I finished next
with a time of 21:33. Next came Becca Haught
in a time of 21:51. Close after Becca was
Alex Reasoner running a 21:58 and and
Brittany Richter running a 22:03.
Our
team did a great job of staying close
together. We were in a close pack and that
allowed us to score better. We even beat
Bethel College who had beat us the week
before at the MCC meet.
We had a
great season this year. We have continued to
get better as a team, pushing each other,
and running as a pack. It was lots of fun
and I know I am going to miss being part of
the cross country team at Mount Vernon
Nazarene University. I know all the girls
will do a great job next year and I can't
wait to watch them!
