Throughout the course of the 2011 season, MVNU
senior runner Caitlin Edwards will write a weekly blog about what is
happening with the team.
Invitational" (posted on

This past Friday afternoon
was the All-Ohio Meet. The All-Ohio Meet is
one of the most exciting races that we run
in all year. It's so exciting because all
the teams from all the colleges in Ohio race
in the All-Ohio Meet. We get to see all of
our friends from high school that we ran
cross country with or the old rivals that we
had and we get to run against them again.
The All-Ohio Meet is also an exciting
race because we get to run against colleges
at all different levels. We get to run
against large schools like Ohio State
University, the University of Cincinnati,
and Ohio University, and we also get to run
against small schools that are the same size
we are. So it's fun to see so many diverse
schools compete in one race.
the school Friday morning at 10:00 to travel
down to Cedarville University for the meet.
When we got down to Cedarville on Friday, it
was very cold and rainy. We set up our
"camp" and then the men's team started to
get ready for their race. Since it was so
cold, the girls stayed in the bus until the
boys started their race and it was time for
us to start warming up for our race.
Because the All-Ohio Meet has so many
runners, there are four races instead of the
usual two races. At the All-Ohio Meet, there
is a men's varsity race, a women's varsity
race, a men's open race, and a women's open
race. For our women's varsity race, Lincoln
Green, Ashley Mast, Becca Haught, Alex
Reasoner, Lindsey Minor, Brittany Richter,
and I all ran. Then, Melissa Keiser, Sarah
Mast, Katie Worthington, and Kathleen Finley
ran in the women's open race.
Green came in first for our team with a time
of 19:49. Ashley Mast was second with a time
of 20:56. I came in next with a time of
21:33. Next was Becca Haught with a time of
21:43. Alex Reasoner finished her race in
21:51. Lindsey Minor came in with a time of
22:10. Brittany Richter finished next with a
time of 22:29. Melissa Keiser came in with a
time of 24:18. Sarah Mast finished in 25:33.
Katie Worthington finished her race in a
27:23, and Kathleen Finley wasn't far behind
her with a time of 27:30.
We had lots
of girls finish with either a season's best
or a personal best time at the All-Ohio
Meet. That is a great thing because it means
that our team is getting stronger and
faster. Lincoln Green, Ashley Mast, Becca
Haught, Alex Reasoner, Brittany Richter,
Melissa Keiser, and Katie Worthington all
finished with a season's best time, and
Becca Haught and Brittany Richter also had
personal best times with their finishes.
So, as you can see, even though the
racing conditions were not the best, we
still did great at the All-Ohio Meet. Over
the next week, we will be training and then
we will come back to race at the Wilmington
Invitational on October 14th. Thanks for all
your support and encouragement. We hope to
see you at Wilmington!
