Throughout the course of the 2010 season, MVNU
junior runner Nate Winters will write a weekly blog about what is
happening with the team. "Getting
Ready to Run" (posted on September 1, 2010)
As I am sitting here writing this, I am
dreading the thought of running today,
because it is supposed to be 92 outside.
Fortunately, it was not that hot at team
camp last week.

The entire team (minus Chaz, who was not
back from his bike trip across America, and
me, back at school doing SGA stuff) went to
Mohican for a few days to run the hills and
canoe the rivers. The first day went well,
except for the part when the oven broke so
the guys had to take all the lasagna down to
the girls' cabin and cook it. The rest of
the night consisted of team time and playing
tag on the playground in the dark. Day two
consisted of running and canoeing, and then
running back from canoeing. Canoeing down
the river and running back is an easy way to
get in a good run, however, it only works
well if the shoes stay dry. The shoes did
not stay dry. I won't go into detail, but
the moral of the story is, "Don't put all
your shoes in one canoe" and "Don't tip the
canoe with all the shoes in it". The guys
made it back, along with a few new blisters.
We have our first race at Kenyon today. It
is a 5k for us (normally we run 8k) and it's
going to be interesting. Hopefully it cools
down to 90 or something...
