This past weekend did not consist of a
race for the cross country team. It was nice
to have a break and just relax for those few
days. While Saturday and Sunday were
relaxing, Monday through Friday were spent
with many hours running. Two days a week, we
have practice in the morning and at night.
Most of the girls on the team are finding it
difficult to wake up at 6:30 a.m. just to go
running. I will admit that I cannot remember
most of my morning runs because I am zoned
out and not actually awake yet. That is
probably not normal.
Because we have been working so hard,
some members of the team have had side
effects. Katelyn Felger was lucky enough to
have her whole toe nail fall off. She was
very excited about it (sarcasm), along with
Brian Humphrey, the athletic trainer. On a
more serious note, our legs have been
hurting, but nothing that an exciting ice
bath cannot fix!
One really exciting thing about this
coming weekend at Cedarville University is
that we get to stay overnight at a hotel for
the race. We always come back with MANY
memories from the trips! I imagine that
there will be euchre games being played
(Caitlin Campbell and I will probably win a
few more games against the guys) and amazing
food. The topic always gets switched to
food! We are going to be heading to Olive
Garden! That is probably the favorite place
of the team.
Also, A HUGE congratulations to Jessica
Brant for completely shattering the school
record! I am sure that she will continue to
take more seconds off of that time as the
year goes on.
Our next race is Saturday at Cedarville.
While we all did amazing during the first
race, I know that our times will improve
because of our hard work.
