Throughout the course of the 2009 season, MVNU sophomore runner Nikki Yates will write a weekly blog about what is happening with the team.

"Last Free Weekend" (posted on November 6, 2009)

This past weekend there was no meet. We did have practice every day, but it is not how practice normally is. The next two weekends are the most important of the year, so we have had easier practices than we are used to. Both meets are at Cedarville. That could be good because we are very comfortable with their course.

People ask me if it gets boring just running every day. The answer is no. This year Coach has done such an amazing job of switching up the practices. We had two practices where we didn’t even know what to run until we were doing it. He gave everyone a slip of paper with a certain thing to do. They were all numbered and once we finished the task we moved on to the next person.

We are so excited for the upcoming weekend! This is the conference meet against a few nationally-ranked teams. Last year during this meet, I had so much adrenaline because of how important it was. I know that it will be the same this year!

It is really sad that the season is almost over! Brittany Click is the only senior on the team, but she will be missed so much! She better come and visit next year! This year was so amazing and I know that these last two meets will bring us together even more than we already are. I am just excited to see what the near future holds.

I would like to point out two different runners: Melissa Keiser and Bethany Parks. I think that Melissa honestly might be crazy! She has two hours of cross country practice and then goes to cheerleading practice. That is what I call dedication! Bethany was injured this past week, but in a way that she laughs about, and I do too. She was running and managed to fall flat on her face. If you know Bethany, then that seems actually normal for her. I think the main reason that it is funny is because she told me that she would fall flat on her face soon, but she thought it would be during a meet. Luckily she isn’t injured too badly!

If anyone would be able to come out, the girls run at 10:15 and the guys run at 11:00 on Saturday. Once again, it is at Cedarville and we would love to see you there!
