May 13, OHIO DOMINICAN UNIVERSITY
The Cougars managed just two hits in the second championship game of the NAIA Region IX Tournament as MVNU fell 5-0 to Ohio Dominican to finish as the NAIA Region IX Tournament runner-up for the fourth straight year.  Derek Morey (5-3) suffered the loss as he allowed eight hits, one walk, and five runs over nine innings with three strikeouts.  The Cougars managed just singles by Carl Langley and Adam Rowe and walks to Kyle Peters and Justin Clarey as their season came to an end with a final record of 27-19. May 13, OHIO DOMINICAN UNIVERSITY
After several days of rainouts, MVNU dropped a close 6-4 decision to Ohio Dominican in the first championship game of the NAIA Region IX Tournament which was played in Mount Vernon.  The Panthers, ranked 17th in the final NAIA national poll, built a 6-1 lead and held off a ninth-inning rally by the Cougars.  Adam Rowe (5-4) suffered the loss on the mound as he allowed 11 hits, two walks, and six runs over 6 1/3 innings with six strikeouts.  Ryan Lucas tossed the final 1 2/3 innings and gave up just one hit with three strikeouts.  Offensively, Dan Matheney led the way by going 2-for-3 with a double and two RBI. May 8, vs. Point Park (PA) College
The Cougars advanced to the championship game of the NAIA Region IX Tournament for the fourth straight year as MVNU pulled out an 8-7 victory in 10 innings over Point Park in the winner's bracket championship game in Chillicothe, Ohio. Dan Matheney singled in the winning run in the top of the tenth inning after Tim Martini had thrown out the potential winning run at home plate in the bottom of the ninth inning. Andy Dunn (3-2) picked up the victory in relief as he worked the final 1 2/3 innings and allowed just one hit and one walk. Ryan Lucas started and lasted just 1 1/3 innings as he gave up one hit, five walks, and four runs with one strikeout. Carl Langley tossed seven innings in relief and allowed four hits, five walks, and three runs with four strikeouts. Offensively, Josh Sichina had two hits including a three-run homer in the first inning. Justin Clarey added three hits, and Matheney tallied two singles. BOXSCORE

May 8, vs. Malone College
Despite trailing 2-0 after the first inning, MVNU rebounded to eliminate Malone from the NAIA Region IX Tournament in Chillicothe, Ohio, with a 7-3 victory.  Derek Morey (5-2) worked all nine innings on the mound to record his fourth straight victory for the Cougars as he allowed just seven hits and three runs - only one earned - over nine innings with no walks and three strikeouts.  Meanwhile, the MVNU offense pounded out 10 hits with Justin Clarey leading the way with a double, a single, and two RBI.  Ty Dendinger also had two hits. May 7, vs. Tiffin University
The Cougars successfully opened up play at the NAIA Region IX Tournament in Chillicothe, Ohio, as MVNU blanked Tiffin 2-0.  Adam Rowe (5-3) worked all nine innings for the Cougars in posting his second shutout of the year.  He struck out 11 batters and allowed just four hits and four walks.  Meanwhile, MVNU scored its two runs on a seventh-inning sacrifice fly by Nate Rutkowski and an eighth-inning sacrifice fly by Josh Sichina.  Kyle Peters also had two of the Cougars' five hits in the game. MVNU wrapped up its first-ever American Mideast Conference North Division title and the top seed at the NAIA Region IX Tournament with an 11-1 victory over Point Park in the second game of a division twinbill.  Derek Morey (4-2) picked up the win as he allowed just three hits, three walks, and one run over five innings with two strikeouts.  Meanwhile, the Cougars pounded out 14 hits with Carl Langley and Ty Dendinger each going 2-for-3 with three RBI and two runs scored.  Josh Sichina, Adam Rowe, Tim Martini, and Justin Clarey also added two hits apiece. May 3, POINT PARK (PA) COLLEGE
The Cougars fell 8-3 in the first game of an American Mideast Conference North Division doubleheader to Point Park.  Adam Rowe (4-3) suffered the loss as he gave up nine hits, one walk, and eight runs over 5 1/3 innings with eight strikeouts.  Andy Dunn worked the final 1 2/3 innings and allowed two hits.  Kyle Peters and Brent Zimmerman each had two hits, while Ty Dendinger drove in two runs. May 1, at Ohio Wesleyan University
MVNU dropped a hard-fought 7-6 non-conference decision at Ohio Wesleyan as the Battlin' Bishops scored the winning run in the bottom of the ninth inning. Brian Barrish (0-1) suffered the loss for the Cougars as he allowed two hits, one walk, and an unearned run over one-plus inning of relief work. Kyle Peters started and worked 5 1/3 innings as he scattered eight hits, one walk, and three runs with seven strikeouts. The Cougars scored three unearned runs in the bottom of the sixth inning as MVNU rallied for a 3-1 victory over Walsh in the nightcap of an American Mideast Conference North Division doubleheader.  Derek Morey (3-2) allowed just six hits, one walk, and one unearned run over seven innings to pick up the win.  Ty Dendinger was 2-for-3 with two RBI, while Josh Sichina and Adam Rowe also finished with two hits apiece. MVNU dropped a 7-5 decision to Walsh in the first game of an American Mideast Conference North Division doubleheader.  Ryan Lucas (2-5) suffered the loss as he allowed seven hits, three walks, and five runs over six innings.  Andy Dunn tossed one inning of relief and surrendered three hits and two runs.  Offensively, Carl Langley led the way with a pair of doubles, while Tim Martini also had a pair of hits. The Cougars scored two runs in the top of the seventh inning to pull out a hard-fought 6-4 victory at Geneva in the nightcap of an American Mideast Conference North Division doubleheader.  Jon Barchus (9-0) earned the complete game victory as he scattered seven hits and four runs over seven innings while striking out 10 batters.  Justin Clarey paced the offense by going 3-for-4 with three RBI, and Tim Martini and Jeff Derr each added a pair of hits. April 26, at Geneva (PA) College
MVNU posted a 12-3 win at Geneva in the first game of an American Mideast Conference North Division doubleheader.  Adam Rowe (4-2) won his third straight game as he worked six strong innings and allowed just seven hits, one walk, and three runs with eight strikeouts.  Andy Dunn tossed the final inning and recorded one strikeout.  Meanwhile, Josh Sichina paced the offense by going 5-for-5 with a grand slam and a career-high seven RBI - one shy of the school record.  Nate Rutkowski also hit his first home run of the season as part of his two hits, and Tim Martini, Justin Clarey, and Ty Dendinger added two hits apiece. April 25, at Saint Vincent (PA) College
The Cougars earned a split with a 3-1 victory over Saint Vincent in the nightcap of an American Mideast Conference North Division twinbill.  Derek Morey (2-2) started and pitched six strong innings for the victory as he allowed just two hits, three walks, and one unearned run to go with three strikeouts. Jon Barchus notched the school-record 13th save of his career as he pitched a perfect seventh inning with two strikeouts. April 25, at Saint Vincent (PA) College
MVNU dropped a tough 3-2 decision as Saint Vincent scored three times in the bottom of the seventh inning off reliever Andy Dunn (2-2) to pull out the victory in the first game of an American Mideast Conference North Division doubleheader.  Dunn took the loss as he gave up three hits, two walks, and three unearned runs over the final 1 1/3 innings with two strikeouts.  Ryan Lucas started and pitched 5 1/3 scoreless innings as he scattered seven hits and three walks to go with three strikeouts.  Tim Martini led off the game with a home run for the Cougars and later doubled and scored the team's other run as he had half of the team's four hits. April 22, GENEVA (PA) COLLEGE
The Cougars rallied with two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to post a 2-1 victory over Geneva in the second game of an American Mideast Conference North Division doubleheader.  Tim Martini's sacrifice fly knotted the score, and Josh Sichina won the game with an RBI-single to center.  Jon Barchus (8-0) was outstanding on the mound as he allowed just three hits, one walk, and one unearned run over seven innings with a career-high 12 strikeouts.  Sichina, Carl Langley, and Ty Dendinger each had two hits. April 22, GENEVA (PA) COLLEGE
MVNU blanked Geneva 7-0 in the first game of an American Mideast Conference North Division doubleheader.  Adam Rowe (3-2) tossed a three-hit shutout for the win as he allowed just five walks over seven innings with nine strikeouts.  Tim Martini, Carl Langley, and Kyle Peters each had two hits, while Justin Clarey blasted his team-leading eighth home run. April 21, at Ohio Dominican University
The Cougars managed just five hits as MVNU fell 6-3 at Ohio Dominican, ranked #21 in the latest NAIA national poll, in the second game of a non-conference doubleheader. MVNU built a 4-0 lead and held on for a 5-3 victory at Ohio Dominican, ranked #21 in the latest NAIA national poll, in the first game of a non-conference twinbill. The Cougars dropped a hard-fought 5-4 decision at Tiffin in the nightcap of a non-conference doubleheader as the host Dragons scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning.  Andy Dunn (2-1) suffered the loss in relief as he allowed two hits and two runs in one inning of work.  Carl Langley started and allowed five hits, two walks, and three runs over five innings with two strikeouts.  Seven different MVNU players collected one hit with Josh Sichina's double being the only one for extra bases. MVNU managed just five hits as the Cougars fell 10-0 in the first game of a non-conference doubleheader at Tiffin.  Derek Morey (1-2) gave up 15 hits, one walk, and 10 runs over 5 2/3 innings to take the loss.  Kyle Peters, Josh Sichina, Adam Rowe, Dan Matheney, and Brent Zimmerman each singled in the game. April 15, MALONE COLLEGE
The Cougars made it a doubleheader sweep over American Mideast Conference North Division-leading Malone as MVNU posted a 10-5 victory in the nightcap.  Tim Martini went 3-for-4 to lead the 11-hit attack, while Josh Sichina added two hits.  Dan Matheney also hit his first home run of the season.  Meanwhile, Jon Barchus (7-0) picked up the win on the mound as he scattered 10 hits, one walk, and five runs over seven innings with seven strikeouts. April 15, MALONE COLLEGE
MVNU scored the final five runs of the game to knock off American Mideast Conference North Division-leading Malone 5-1 in the first game of a conference twinbill.  Adam Rowe (2-2) earned the victory - the 20th of his collegiate career - as he allowed just five hits, two walks, and one unearned run over seven innings with five strikeouts.  Tim Martini and Ty Dendinger each had two hits, and Justin Clarey blasted his team-leading seventh home run. The Cougars earned a split in American Mideast Conference North Division action with a 9-5 win in the second game of a doubleheader at Point Park.  Kyle Peters (2-1) picked up the win as he scattered six hits, four walks, and five runs - only two earned - over 6 1/3 innings with seven strikeouts.  Andy Dunn notched his first save by retiring the final two batters.  Offensively, Nate Rutkowski led the team by going 3-for-4, while Tim Martini and Dan Matheney each had two hits. MVNU dropped a 4-1 decision at Point Park in the first game of an American Mideast Conference North Division doubleheader.  Ryan Lucas (1-4) suffered the loss as he allowed five hits, three walks, and four runs over 4 2/3 innings, while Andy Dunn tossed the final 1 1/3 innings and did not allow any runs.  Josh Sichina and Justin Clarey hit back-to-back two-out doubles in the top of the first inning to account for the Cougars' lone run. The Cougars swept an American Mideast Conference North Division twinbill from Saint Vincent with a 9-4 victory in the second game of the doubleheader.  After trailing 3-0 going to the bottom of the first inning, MVNU scored two runs in each of its first three at bats to go in front for good.  Carl Langley (1-2) earned the victory as he allowed just five hits, one walk, and one earned run over 5 2/3 innings with three strikeouts.  Adam Rowe notched his first save of the season as he worked the final 1 1/3 inning and allowed just one hit with one strikeout.  Offensively, Tim Martini, Kyle Peters, Nate Rutkowski, and Jeff Derr each had two hits. MVNU watched a 5-0 lead evaporate as the Cougars fell 7-5 to Malone in the first game of an American Mideast Conference North Division twinbill. Ryan Lucas (1-3) took the loss as he allowed nine hits, one walk, and seven runs over 5 1/3 innings with eight strikeouts. Carl Langley recorded the final two outs as he induced a double play ball from the one batter he faced. Meanwhile, MVNU collected just eight hits with Dan Matheney going 2-for-3 with a stolen base. Jon Barchus tossed his second one-hit shutout of the season to lead the Cougars to a 1-0 victory over Walsh in the second game of an American Mideast Conference North Division doubleheader.  Barchus (5-0) allowed just a two-out single in the fifth inning and three walks as he struck out six batters.  Offensively, Adam Rowe went 2-for-3, while Dan Matheney's steal of home provided the only run of the game. April 3, at College of Wooster
In a game that featured 34 hits, 33 runs, and 11 home runs, the Cougars came out on the short end 23-10 at Wooster in a non-conference game.  Ty Dendinger, Kyle Peters, Justin Clarey, and Josh Sichina each homered in the second inning as MVNU built an early 8-3 lead, but the Fighting Scots scored in every inning including a 10-run seventh inning to go on to the win.  Tim Martini led the Cougars with two hits.  Carl Langley (0-2) suffered the loss in relief of starter Derek Morey. MVNU finished off a non-conference doubleheader sweep of Mount Union as the Cougars prevailed 7-1 in the nightcap of the twinbill.  Jon Barchus (4-0) earned the victory as he allowed just six hits, two walks, and one unearned run over seven innings with eight strikeouts.  Meanwhile, Kyle Peters went 3-for-4 with three RBI, and Tim Martini and Adam Rowe each added two hits apiece.  Carl Langley also hit a home run. MVNU wrapped up its annual spring trip with a 3-1 win over Mount Mercy at the Gene Cusic Classic in Fort Myers, Florida. Kyle Peters (1-0) picked up the victory in his collegiate pitching debut. He allowed just one hit - a lead-off home run - before retiring 20 of the next 22 batters in the complete game performance that included two strikeouts and no walks. March 29, vs. University of St. Thomas (MN)
The Cougars managed just three hits as MVNU was blanked 4-0 by St. Thomas, ranked 15th in NCAA Division III, in action at the Gene Cusic Classic in Fort Myers, Florida. It was the first time that the Cougars had been shut out since April 21, 2001 - a span of 76 straight games.
