
Andrea Rudd, a member of the Mount Vernon Nazarene College women's volleyball team, was recently selected as the NCCAA National Setter of the Week for her performances during the week of September 20-26.
Rudd, a 5-foot-9 sophomore setter from Wilmington, Ohio, led the Lady Cougars to a 5-0 week that included winning the 1999 Wazie Invitational. The Wilmington High School All-Ohioan began the week with four kills, seven digs, and 29 assists in a four-game conference win over the University of Rio Grande.
Rudd followed up that performance with three kills, two blocks, and 20 assists in a win against Tiffin University. Her best outing during the three-match Wazie Invitational came against Marian (IN) College when she pounded a career-high seven kills and posted six blocks. She also handed out 27 assists in that match.
For the week, Rudd averaged 5.42 assists, 1.05 kills, and .68 blocks per game. She also posted a .415 attack percentage.
MVNC is now 21-1 overall on the season and the Lady Cougars are also in first place in the AMC with a 6-0 mark. The team will return to action on Thursday when MVNC begins a three-match swing through Pennsylvania with a non-conference contest at California (PA) University, an NCAA Division II team. The match is slated to begin at 7:00 p.m.
