
For the second time already this season, Darcee Hoberg, a member of the Mount Vernon Nazarene College women's volleyball team, has been selected as the National Christian College Athletic Association Women's Volleyball Player of the Week for her performance during the week of September 6-12.
Hoberg, a 5-foot-10 sophomore outside hitter from Coshocton, Ohio, led the team to a 3-0 week as the Lady Cougars won all three matches in straight games.
The former River View High School standout posted four kills, one block, and five digs in the only game she played during MVNC's 15-0, 15-6, 15-7 win over Wilmington College. Hoberg followed that performance with 10 kills, 10 digs, and three aces in a 15-9, 15-11, 15-8 victory over Denison University.
Hoberg closed out the week by pounding a team-high 14 kills and tying her career high with 15 digs in a 15-7, 15-6, 15-3 win over Saint Xavier (IL) University, the third-ranked team in NAIA Region IIV.
For the week, Hoberg pounded 28 kills and recorded three blocks, three aces, and 30 digs. She averaged 4.00 kills and 4.29 digs per game. She also posted a .375 attack percentage and a 92.0 serving percentage.
So far this season, Hoberg leads the Lady Cougars with 138 kills, 120 digs, and 14 aces. She is averaging 3.83 kills, 3.33 digs, and .33 blocks per game. She also has a .353 attack percentage.
MVNC is currently 12-1 overall and 1-0 in the American Mideast Conference. The Lady Cougars, who just missed cracking the NAIA Top 25 this week, will return to action on Thursday when the team travels to Central State University for a non-conference match that will begin at 7:00 p.m.
