"Mike has done a remarkable job for us the past three seasons and I know that he is ready to step onto the court and utilize his knowledge," said Rockets head coach Rudy Tomjanovich. "He has an amazing work ethic and a great sense of priorities. This is an outstanding opportunity for both Mike and the Rockets, and I am confident that he will be a tremendous success."
Wells, who is a native of Mount Vernon, was a guard on the MVNC men's basketball team during the 1990-91 and 1991-92 seasons.
