
Amanda Schumm, a member of the Mount Vernon Nazarene College women's volleyball team, has been selected as the American Mideast Conference and the NAIA Region IX Player of the Week for her performance in matches played during the week of October 18-24.
Schumm, a 5-foot-10 sophomore outside hitter from Rockford, Ohio, guided the Lady Cougars to a 3-0 week that included winning the National Christian College Athletic Association East Region Tournament. She averaged 3.36 kills and 2.27 digs per game for the week with a .381 attack percentage. In addition, she recorded five aces and four blocks.
The former All-Ohioan at Parkway High School began the week with eight kills and 10 digs in a non-conference victory at Otterbein College. She added 12 kills and a team-high two aces in a win over Malone College at the NCCAA East Region Tournament, and then she finished the tournament with a team-high 17 kills and 11 digs in a victory over Geneva (PA) College.
For the season, Schumm has recorded 29 aces, 33 assists, 41 blocks, 199 digs, and 262 kills. She is averaging 2.59 kills per game to go along with a .286 attack percentage and a .942 serving percentage.
The Lady Cougars are currently 33-2 overall and 12-0 in the AMC. MVNC is also ranked #25 in the latest NAIA national poll that was released on Tuesday afternoon.
