Becky Jefferys, a setter on the Mount Vernon Nazarene College women's volleyball team, has been selected as the American Mideast Conference Setter of the Week for her performance during the week of October 4-10.

Jefferys, a 5-foot-6 senior from Elyria, Ohio, helped the Lady Cougars to a 4-0 week. The former Elyria High School standout compiled five aces, 26 digs, and 79 assists during the week to go along with a .958 serving percentage and a .750 attack percentage (three kills in four attempts with no errors).

Jefferys began the week with one ace, two kills, two digs, and 19 assists in a sweep of Notre Dame College as MVNC remained unbeaten and in first place in the American Mideast Conference. Then, she helped the team to the University of Michigan-Dearborn Classic title with three victories that included an upset of Madonna (MI) University, the 17th-ranked team in the NAIA. In the win over Madonna, Jefferys posted three aces, 13 digs, and 21 assists.

On the season, Jefferys leads the team with 574 assists. She has also posted 23 aces and 164 digs. She recently became the 11th player and only the third setter in school history to record 1,000 career digs.

The Lady Cougars are currently ranked 25th in the latest NAIA national poll with a 28-2 overall record. MVNC is also 10-0 in the AMC headed into an important conference match at Malone College on Thursday at 7:00 p.m. The Lady Pioneers are 21-3 overall and 7-0 in the AMC, and Malone has beaten the Lady Cougars once in each of the past two years.
