Mike Waddell, a member of the Mount Vernon Nazarene College baseball team, has been selected as the American Mideast Conference Pitcher of the Week for his performance during the week of March 13-19.
Waddell, a 6-foot-4 junior right-hander from Cardington, Ohio, tossed a complete-game two-hitter as the Cougars defeated Bluefield State (WV) College 10-0. The former Cardington-Lincoln High School star, who was making his first start after missing all of last season with a hand injury, struck out a career-high 14 batters and allowed just two walks over seven innings.
MVNC is currently 4-0 on the season as the Cougars take part in the Gene Cusic Classic in Fort Myers, Florida. MVNC will return to action with a doubleheader against Cardinal Stritch (WI) University on Monday beginning at 10:00 a.m.
