Anne Nussbaum and Phil Argento, members respectively of the Mount Vernon Nazarene College women's and men's basketball teams, swept the National Christian College Athletic Association Player of the Week honors for February 28-March 5.

Nussbaum, a 5-foot-6 senior guard from Mount Vernon, Ohio, led the Lady Cougars to their third straight NCCAA East Region title with victories over third-seeded Roberts Wesleyan (NY) College and top-seeded Malone College. For the week, the former Mount Vernon High School standout averaged 16.0 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 4.5 assists per game.

In MVNC's 80-50 rout of Roberts Wesleyan in the semifinals, Nussbaum led the team with 15 points and five assists while also nailing a trio of three-pointers. In the championship game against Malone, Nussbaum played all 45 minutes of the Lady Cougars' 64-62 overtime win and led the team with 17 points, four assists, and five rebounds.

Argento, a 6-foot-2 freshman guard from Grafton, Ohio, led the MVNC men's basketball team to the American Mideast Conference Tournament title as the Cougars downed second-seeded Walsh University 84-72 to advance to the NAIA Division II National Tournament.

Against the Cavaliers, Argento tossed in a career-high 27 points on 7-of-16 shooting from the field with four three-pointers. The former Lutheran West High School star also went 9-for-10 at the charity stripe and grabbed five rebounds.
