"Three Cougars Named NAIA Division II All-Americans"

   Three members of the Mount Vernon Nazarene College men's basketball team were recently honored when the NAIA announced its Division II All-Americans and All-America Scholar-Athletes.

   Adam Stevens, a 6-foot-6 senior forward from Mount Vernon, Ohio, headlined the list for the Cougars as he was selected to both the NAIA Division II All-American Second Team and the NAIA All-America Scholar-Athlete Team. The former standout at Mount Vernon High School finished the season averaging a team-high 17.6 points and 8.6 rebounds per game. Stevens also dished out 130 assists and nailed 78 three-pointers.

   A Philosophy major, Stevens has also compiled a 3.51 grade point average and has been named to the MVNC Dean's List for three semesters.

   Kenny Chaffin, a 6-foot-6 sophomore forward from Marysville, Ohio, was named an NAIA Division II Honorable Mention All-American after averaging 16.3 points and 7.1 rebounds in his first season as a starter. The former Marysville High School star also led the team by shooting 57.7 percent from the field (209-of-362), and he blocked 46 shots.

   Coy Lindsey, a 6-foot guard from Logan, Ohio, joined Stevens on the NAIA Division II All-America Scholar-Athlete Team. The former Logan High School product averaged 4.8 points per game and nailed 25 treys. A Religion major, Lindsey has posted a 3.769 grade point average.

   The Cougars wrapped up the 1999-2000 season by posting a 26-8 overall record and advancing to their third straight NAIA Division II National Tournament. MVNC also reached the 20-win mark for the fourth straight season.
