"MVNC's Chaffin Receives Player of the Week Honors"

   Kenny Chaffin, a member of the Mount Vernon Nazarene College men's basketball team, has been selected as the American Mideast Conference and National Christian College Athletic Association Player of the Week for his efforts during the week of February 21-27.

   Chaffin, a 6-foot-6 sophomore forward/center from Marysville, Ohio, led the Cougars to the championship game of the American Mideast Conference Tournament as he posted career highs of 29 points, 11 rebounds, and five blocked shots in a win over Ohio Dominican College in a semifinal game. He shot 72 percent from the field (13-of-18) and drilled 2-of-3 three-point attempts in 25 minutes of action.

   The former All-Ohioan at Marysville High School is currently second in scoring (16.0 points per game) and rebounding (7.1 rebounds per game) for MVNC. He leads the Cougars by shooting 57.4 percent from the field (186-of-324), and he is also second in blocked shots with 39.

   MVNC is currently 24-7 overall. The Cougars will host Walsh University in the AMC Tournament championship game on Tuesday night at 7:30 p.m. The winner of the game will receive an automatic berth in the NAIA Division II national tournament in Branson, Missouri.
