Chad Gress, a member of the Mount Vernon Nazarene College men's golf team, has been selected as the National Christian College Athletic Association Player of the Week for his performances during the week of April 3-9.

Gress, a freshman from Coshocton, Ohio, has stepped up his game in his first collegiate season as he has helped the Cougars to a 54-21 overall record so far this season.

On Monday, April 3, the former Coshocton High School standout led MVNC to a second-place finish at the Shawnee State University Invitational as he claimed medalist honors with a 74 in very wet conditions.

Gress followed that performance up on Thursday, April 6, as he led the Cougars to a third-place finish out of 10 teams at the Urbana University Invitational. On a day in which only five players in the 10-team field shot in the 70s due to gusts of wind of up to 50 miles per hour, Gress led MVNC with an 81.

Gress closed out the week on Friday, April 7, by shooting a team-low 37 as the Cougars finished seventh out of 19 teams at the Ashland University Invitational that was shortened to nine holes due to heavy rains.

MVNC will return to action on April 17-18 when the Cougars travel to North Canton, Ohio, to take part in the Walsh University Invitational.
