Tara Seiter, a member of the Mount Vernon Nazarene College women's volleyball team, has been named the NAIA Great Lakes Region and National Christian College Athletic Association National Volleyball Player of the Week for her effort in matches played from September 7-13.
Seiter, a 5-foot-11 senior middle hitter from Waldo, Ohio, led the Lady Cougars to four victories during the week that increased MVNC's overall record to 12-0. The team defeated Indiana Wesleyan University, Notre Dame College, Ashland University, and Spring Arbor (MI) College.
In the victory over Indiana Wesleyan, the former River Valley High School standout pounded 17 kills and added a season-high 10 blocks. Against Notre Dame, Seiter compiled five kills, four blocks, and nine digs despite only playing two games.
In the Lady Cougars' five-game victory at NCAA Division II Ashland, Seiter smashed a season-high 26 kills and recorded six blocks and 11 digs. She rounded out the week with 13 kills, four blocks, and nine digs against Spring Arbor.
For the week, Seiter, who was also named the American Mideast Conference Player of the Week for the second week in a row, posted 61 kills in 126 attempts with only 12 errors for a .389 attack percentage. She averaged 1.85 blocks, 2.85 digs, and 4.69 kills per game for the week. She also recorded a 96.0 serve reception percentage and a 97.5 serving percentage.
MVNC will return to action on Thursday when the team hosts Cedarville College in an important AMC match. The match is scheduled to start at 7:00 p.m.
