Josh Robson, a member of the Mount Vernon Nazarene College men's soccer team, has been selected as the American Mideast Conference and NAIA Great Lakes Region Men's Soccer Player of the Week for his efforts during the week of September 14-20. Robson was also honored as the NAIA National Player of the Week as he becomes the second Cougar to receive this top honor this season.
Robson, a sophomore forward from Mansfield, Ohio, racked up five goals and three assists as the Cougars crushed two opponents by a combined 18-0 score. In a 7-0 shutout of Capital University, the former Mansfield Madison standout scored a goal and added two assists. He then netted a career-high four goals, all in the first half, and added an assist as MVNC won the first-ever AMC men's soccer match with an 11-0 drubbing of Shawnee State University.
Robson currently leads the AMC in goals per game (1.33) and total points per game (3.50). He is also tied for second in assists per game (0.83). He has recorded eight goals, five assists, and 21 total points through six matches this season.
The Cougars are currently 5-1-0 overall and lead the AMC with a 1-0-0 conference mark. The team will return to action on Tuesday when MVNC travels to Heidelberg College for a non-conference match that will kick off at 4:00 p.m.
