"Seiter Named Conference and Region Player of the Week"

   Tara Seiter, a member of the Mount Vernon Nazarene College women's volleyball team, has been selected as the American Mideast Conference and the NAIA Great Lakes Region Volleyball Player of the Week for her performance in matches played during the week of September 28-October 4. This marks the third time in five weeks that Seiter has won the AMC award.

   Seiter, a 5-foot-11 senior middle hitter from Waldo, Ohio, led the Lady Cougars to a 7-0 week that improved their overall record to 27-0. MVNC also claimed the King (TN) College Invitational title with five victories.

   Seiter began the week with 15 kills and 13 digs in a three-game sweep of conference foe, the University of Rio Grande. Against NCAA Division II opponent Glenville State (WV) College, the former River Valley High School standout posted 13 kills, 15 digs, five blocks, and four aces.

   At the King Invitational, Seiter contributed seven kills and nine digs in a three-game sweep of Lee (TN) University, ranked #24 in the NAIA national poll. She added 14 kills, 16 digs, and seven blocks against Bluefield (VA) College, and she tallied nine kills, five blocks, and 16 digs against Milligan (TN) College.

   In the semifinals of the tournament, Seiter contributed 12 kills, 17 digs, and three blocks in a win over sister school, Trevecca Nazarene (TN) University. Then, in the championship match against Bluefield, she recorded six kills, 11 digs, and 11 blocks.

   For the week, Seiter smashed 76 kills and recorded 37 blocks and 97 digs. She posted a 96.0 serving percentage with 11 aces, while she also compiled a 92.0 serve reception percentage.

   MVNC will return to action on Tuesday evening when the Lady Cougars will host Shawnee State University in an AMC match that is slated to start at 7:00 p.m.
