"Cougars Finish Ninth at Malone Golf Invitational"

   The Mount Vernon Nazarene College men's golf team finished ninth out of ten teams at the Malone College Fall Golf Invitational over the weekend. The tournament was held at the Tannenhauf Golf Course.

   MVNC fired a team total of 824 for the two-day event. Malone, the host school, claimed the tournament title with a 760 to outdistance second-place Ohio Valley (WV) College (795) by 35 strokes. Glenville State (WV) College was third with a 796, while Walsh University and Heidelberg College tied for fourth place at 809.

   Individually, Malone's Greg Moss earned medalist honors by firing a 147 (70-77) to beat his teammates Josh Anderson (76-74=150) and Brandon Mills (74-77=151).

   The Cougars were led by sophomore Matt Durst and freshman Sam McGraw, who each carded a 156. Steven Hesson posted a 167, Todd Mazur recorded a 169, Grant Edgell shot a 179, and Tim Hirschy closed out the scoring with a 185.

   MVNC will wrap up the fall portion of its schedule on Friday and Saturday when the team takes part in the River Greens College Preview in Coshocton, Ohio.
