Three members of the Mount Vernon Nazarene College women's volleyball team recently received All-American honors when the awards were announced at the 1998 National Christian College Athletic Association National Tournament.
Tara Seiter, a senior middle hitter from Waldo, Ohio, was named to both the NCCAA All-American First Team and the NCCAA Academic All-American Team. The former River Valley High School star leads the team with 664 kills and 262 blocks. She has also recorded 52 assists, 57 aces, and 519 digs. She is an Elementary Education major with a 3.528 grade point average.
Rachel Widener, a junior outside hitter from Elyria, Ohio, joined Seiter on the NCCAA All-American First Team. The former Open Door Christian School standout leads the Lady Cougars with 535 digs and a 95.1 serve reception percentage. She has also posted 39 assists, 39 aces, 93 blocks, and 367 kills.
Mandy Hendrickx, a senior setter from Hudson, Ohio, joined Seiter on the NCCAA Academic All-American Team. The former Hudson High School product leads the team with 906 assists and 63 aces. She is an Accounting major with a 3.735 grade point average.
MVNC is currently 48-5 overall and will compete in the 1998 American Mideast Conference Tournament this coming weekend. Details on the Lady Cougars' opponent and the match time have yet to be announced.
