The Mount Vernon Nazarene College women's basketball team won its second straight National Christian College Athletic Association East Region Tournament title as the Lady Cougars posted road victories at second-seeded Nyack (NY) College and top-seeded Roberts Wesleyan (NY) College.
With the victories, MVNC (15-12) earned its second straight trip and third overall to the NCCAA National Tournament which will be held March 11-13 at Oakland City (IN) University. The Lady Cougars have now won five straight games for the first time since the 1993-94 season when the team won its only NCCAA national championship.
MVNC will be the fourth seed when the eight-team tournament gets under way on Thursday. The Lady Cougars will face fifth-seeded Indiana Wesleyan University (16-16) in the second game of the tournament on Thursday. Each team will play three games in the tournament.
