Natalie Wallace and Andy Heimbach, two Mount Vernon Nazarene College athletes, have been selected as the National Christian College Athletic Association National Pitchers of the Week in their respective sports for the week of March 15-21.

Wallace, a sophomore member of the Lady Cougars' fastpitch softball team from Newark, Ohio, posted a 1-0 record for the week as she tossed a four-hitter in a 10-2 victory over Wilmington (DE) College. In the game, she struck out three batters and allowed just one earned run.

For the week, the former Utica High School standout posted a 0.84 earned run average in 8 1/3 innings of work in which the opposing teams hit just .235 against her. At the plate, Wallace also batted .308 with a home run, one run scored, and three runs batted in.

Heimbach, a junior member of the Cougars' baseball squad, tossed a one-hit shutout as MVNC opened the season with a 14-0 victory over previously unbeaten MacMurray (IL) College.

After allowing a hit in the first inning, the former Wheelersburg High School star held MacMurray hitless as he recorded nine strikeouts in posting his school-record eleventh career shutout.
