Ehren Hull, a member of the Mount Vernon Nazarene College men's basketball team, has been named the American Mideast Conference Player of the Week for his performance during the week of February 22-28.
Hull, a 6-foot-2 senior guard from Canton, Ohio, led the Cougars to a 95-79 victory over Tiffin University in the AMC Tournament semifinals as he broke out of a four-game shooting slump with a game-high 34 points. The former GlenOak High School product, who had made just 15-of-47 field goal attempts and 4-of-28 three-point attempts in the previous four games, nailed 12-of-14 shots from the field including 7-of-9 attempts from beyond the three-point arc to down the Dragons.
Hull scored 11 straight points in the first half to erase a 10-point deficit and then nailed back-to-back three-pointers in the second half to give MVNC the lead for good with 12 minutes left. He also recorded five assists and two steals.
MVNC (25-6) will now advance to the AMC Tournament championship game at Malone College on Tuesday, March 2, at 7:30 p.m. The winner of that game receives an automatic berth in the NAIA Division II National Tournament in Nampa, Idaho.
