Two members of the Mount Vernon Nazarene College women’s basketball team were named to the National Christian College Athletic Association East Region Teams when the awards were announced on Friday.
Tara Seiter, a 6-foot senior center from Waldo, Ohio, highlighted the five-player First Team as she was selected as the NCCAA East Region Player of the Year. The former River Valley High School star leads the Lady Cougars in scoring (18.6 points per game), rebounding (9.7 boards per game), and field goal percentage (54.1 percent). Seiter has also recorded 25 blocked shots, 28 steals, and 32 assists.
Anne Nussbaum, a 5-foot-6 junior guard from Mount Vernon, Ohio, was selected to the Second Team. The former Mount Vernon High School standout has dished out a team and career-high 103 assists so far this season while averaging 10.3 points and 3.2 rebounds per contest. Nussbaum has also nailed 41 three-pointers and recorded a team-high 58 steals.
MVNC finished the regular season with a 13-12 overall mark. The Lady Cougars will return to action on Thursday, March 4, when the team will travel to Nyack (NY) College for an NCCAA East Region Tournament semifinal game. The winner of that game will advance to the East Region championship game at Roberts Wesleyan (NY) College on Saturday, March 6, at 2:00 p.m.
