Tara Seiter, a member of the Mount Vernon Nazarene College women’s basketball team, has been selected as the American Mideast Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for her performance in games played during the week of February 15-21.

The former River Valley High School standout began the week with 18 points, eight rebounds, and five steals in a 74-45 victory over Malone College. Seiter followed that with a 26-point, 12-rebound effort in a 74-48 romp over Geneva (PA) College.
For the week, Seiter shot 61.5 percent from the field and 84.6 percent from the free throw line. She also nailed her first career three-pointer in only her second career attempt. She became MVNC’s all-time leading rebounder (915), and she increased her school career scoring mark to 1,622 points.
Seiter currently ranks third in the AMC in scoring (18.6 points per game), fourth in rebounding (9.7 rebounds per game) and blocked shots (25), and fifth in field goal percentage (54.1 percent).
The Lady Cougars are currently 13-12 overall and finished the regular season with a 6-10 conference mark. The team is waiting to hear who its first-round opponent in the National Christian College Athletic Association East Region Tournament will be.
