Tara Seiter, a member of the Mount Vernon Nazarene College women’s basketball team, has been selected as the National Christian College Athletic Association Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for her performance in games played during the week of February 1-7.
Seiter, a 6-foot senior center from Waldo, Ohio, averaged 25.5 points and 12.5 rebounds as the Lady Cougars went 1-1 during the week. She connected on 59.4 percent of her field goal attempts (19-of-32) and recorded three assists, four steals, and five blocked shots.
The former River Valley High School standout began the week with a season-high 28 points and a career-high four blocks in an 81-68 loss to Urbana University, ranked #13 in NAIA Division II. She also added 12 rebounds, two assists, and one steal. In an 84-67 non-conference victory at the College of Wooster, Seiter led the team with 23 points and 13 rebounds as she posted her eighth double-double of the season in just 16 games.
Seiter is already MVNC’s all-time leading scorer with 1,533 career points so far. She now has 878 career rebounds and needs just 25 more rebounds to become the Lady Cougars’ career leader in that category as well.
MVNC is currently 10-11 overall and 3-9 in the American Mideast Conference. The Lady Cougars will return to action on Tuesday evening when the team will travel to Ohio Dominican College for an AMC contest that will tip off at 5:00 p.m.
