Tara Seiter and Mandy Hendrickx, two members of the Mount Vernon Nazarene College women’s volleyball team, were recently honored by the NAIA when the 1998 All-American and All-America Scholar-Athlete Teams were announced.
Seiter, a senior middle hitter from Waldo, Ohio, became the first Lady Cougar volleyball player to make the All-American Second Team. The former River Valley High School star finished the 1998 season with a school-record 780 kills and 302 blocks. She also posted 65 aces and 605 digs.
For her career, Seiter stands second in NAIA history with 2,728 kills and 1,003 blocks. She also set a school record with 210 career aces and ranks second in MVNC history with 2,195 digs.
Seiter was also selected to the NAIA All-America Scholar-Athlete Team for her efforts in the classroom. An Elementary Education major, she has posted a 3.53 grade point average.
Hendrickx, a senior setter from Hudson, Ohio, joined Seiter on the All-America Scholar-Athlete Team. An Accounting major, she has compiled a 3.74 grade point average so far. The former Hudson High School standout finished the season with a team-high 1,054 assists and 72 aces. She also recorded 395 digs.
The Lady Cougars finished the 1998 season with a school-record 54-7 overall mark.
