Mount Vernon Nazarene College women's volleyball coach Paul Swanson was recently featured in Sports Illustrated in the "Faces in the Crowd" section. He appears in the October 6th issue that sports Tiger Woods on the cover.
The article mentions Swanson's 400th victory at MVNC that he notched against Oberlin College in the opening match of the season. It also mentions the Lady Cougars' NAIA-record home winning streak that was recently snapped at 70 consecutive matches.
Swanson is the third MVNC athlete or coach to be featured in the "Faces in the Crowd" section. Wendy Rader, a volleyball player, and Travis Gray, a baseball player, have previously been mentioned in the magazine.
Ironically, Swanson is also the second member of his family to make it in the magazine as his brother was featured in the late 1960s while in college at North Park College in Illinois.
