Mount Vernon Nazarene College forward Adam Stevens was recently named the National Christian College Athletic Association National Men's Basketball Player of the Week for his performance during the week of November 17-23.
Stevens, a 6-foot-7 sophomore from Mount Vernon, Ohio, led the Cougars to a 3-0 week that included two victories at the 1st Annual NCCAA Roundball Classic at Nyack College.
Stevens began the week with a career-high 29 points and seven rebounds in an 85-76 victory over Kentucky Christian College. Late in that game, Stevens scored nine straight points to put the game away. He was 5-for-8 from the three-point line in the contest.
In the first game of the Roundball Classic, Stevens recorded 15 points and 16 rebounds as the Cougars defeated Roberts Wesleyan (NY) College 91-73. He followed that performance with 26 points and 11 rebounds in a 65-61 victory over host Nyack (NY) College. For his efforts, he was named the tournament's Most Valuable Player.
MVNC is now 5-1 and will travel to Ohio Valley (WV) College on November 25 for a 7:00 p.m. non-conference game.
