Sheets, a sophomore third baseman from Vermilion, Ohio, batted .538 to guide the Cougars to a 3-0 week. He had seven hits in 13 at bats with four doubles, three runs batted in, and seven runs scored.
Heimbach, a sophomore righthander from Wheelersburg, Ohio, pitched a four-hitter and defeated Walsh University 8-0 in the opening round of the MOC Tournament. The shutout was Heimbach's fourth of the season and the ninth of his career which ties him with Mike Patch (1994-97) for the MVNC all-time lead.
MVNC is now 33-8 overall and will advance to the NAIA Great Lakes Regional Tournament as a result of winning the MOC Tournament. The regional event will be hosted by Indiana Wesleyan University in Marion, Indiana, from May 8-12.
