Three members of the Mount Vernon Nazarene College women's basketball team and their coach were honored on Monday when the National Christian College Athletic Association All-East Region teams were announced.

Tara Seiter, a 6-foot junior center from Waldo, Ohio, was selected to the First Team for the third straight season. Seiter currently leads the team in scoring (12.8 points per game), rebounding (9.3 boards per game), and blocked shots (22). She has also broken her own school record for free throws made (113) and attempted (167) in a season.

Amber Rice, a 5-foot-9 guard from Baltic, Ohio, joined Seiter on the Second Team. Rice currently leads the team and the East Region in three-point accuracy (40.7 percent) as she has drained 55-of-135 attempts from beyond the arc. She is averaging 11.0 points and 2.8 rebounds per contest.

Shelly Aldrich, a 5-foot-7 sophomore guard from Marion, Ohio, received honorable mention from the region coaches. Aldrich leads the team in assists (79) and has recorded 48 steals. She is averaging 9.2 points and 2.6 rebounds per game.

MVNC head coach Eric Ely was named the East Region Co-Coach of the Year along with John Spaschak of Nyack (NY) College. Ely, in only his second season with the Lady Cougars, has guided the team to a 16-16 mark after going 10-19 a year ago.

MVNC will make its first appearance in the NCCAA Regional Tournament in four years when the Lady Cougars host Nyack at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 5. The winner of that game will travel to Roberts Wesleyan (NY) College on Saturday for the East Region finals.
