After compiling a 25-6 record and winning their first-ever Mid-Ohio Conference title, the Mount Vernon Nazarene College men's basketball team has received an at-large berth in the NAIA Division II National Tournament to be held March 11-17 in Nampa, Idaho.
The Cougars, who finished the season ranked #3 in the final NAIA Division II poll, are seeded fifth in the national tournament after losing 86-84 to Walsh University in the MOC Tournament semifinals. (The Cavaliers ended up winning the MOC Tournament to earn an automatic berth in the national tournament as well.)
MVNC will face unseeded St. Ambrose (IA) University in the first round of this year's tournament on Wednesday, March 11, at 4:00 p.m. PST. St. Ambrose is 20-15 overall and has won seven of its last nine games.
For the Cougars, this is their second trip to the NAIA Division II National Tournament. In 1995, MVNC lost in the first round to Willamette (OR) University.
