Lori Sours and Tara Hines, members of the Mount Vernon Nazarene College women's fastpitch softball team, were recently named the Mid-Ohio Conference Player and Pitcher of the Week respectively for their performances in games played during the week of March 16-22.

Sours, a junior first baseman from Jeromesville, Ohio, batted .667 for the week with three doubles, three walks, and three runs batted in. She also posted a .778 on-base percentage and was perfect in the field with no errors as the Lady Cougars began the season with a 2-1 record.

Hines, a freshman pitcher from Marion, Ohio, tossed a five-hit shutout as she won her collegiate debut with a 2-0 decision over Calvin (MI) College. She was also selected as the National Christian College Athletic Association National Player of the Week for her efforts.

MVNC will continue its spring trip in Orlando, Florida, with eight more games scheduled during the week of March 23-28. Then, the Lady Cougars will return north to begin their conference schedule.
