Josh Colley, a centerfielder from Dublin Scioto High School, has signed a letter of intent to attend Mount Vernon Nazarene College and play baseball on the Cougars' squad.

"I am thrilled to have Josh put on a Cougar uniform," said MVNC head coach Keith Veale. "His experiences in the state tournament will bring to us a high level of performance and a championship type of attitude."

Colley helped his Dublin Scioto team to a 31-3 overall record and a berth in the Division I state finals in his senior season. He was a three-year letterman for the Irish and he set school records for most stolen bases (25), most runs scored (41), highest batting average (.458), and highest on-base percentage (.567).

Besides his exploits on the baseball diamond, Colley was a four-year letterman in cross country and a two-year letterman in basketball. He was also selected as a Scholar-Athlete with a 3.67 grade point average and named to the National Honor Society.

"Josh possesses the total package I'm looking for in the recruiting process," added Veale. "He is outstanding on the field, in the classroom, and off the field. He has true leadership abilities, and I see nothing but positives."

MVNC posted a 37-12 overall record during the 1998 season. The Cougars also won their fourth straight Mid-Ohio Conference regular-season title and their ninth overall.
