Five members of the Mount Vernon Nazarene College women's basketball team were honored on Sunday when the Mid-Ohio Conference coaches selected the all-conference teams for the 1997-98 season.
Tara Seiter, a 6-foot junior center from Waldo, Ohio, was selected to the MOC First Team for the second straight season. Seiter currently leads the conference in rebounding (9.5 boards per game), and ranks second in blocked shots (0.9 per game), eighth in scoring (13.0 points per game), and ninth in field goal percentage (47.2 percent).
Amber Rice, a 5-foot-9 guard from Baltic, Ohio, joined Seiter on the MOC Second Team. Rice currently ranks fourth in the conference in three-point accuracy as she has connected on 52-of-129 attempts from beyond the arc. She averages 10.6 points and 2.9 rebounds per game.
Sophomores Shelly Aldrich and Amie Bibby both received honorable mention from the MOC coaches. Aldrich, a 5-foot-6 guard from Marion, Ohio, averages 9.3 points per game and leads the team in assists with 76. Bibby, a 5-foot-11 forward from Mount Vernon, Ohio, averages 8.0 points and 4.5 rebounds per contest while leading the team with 58 steals.
In addition to the all-conference awards, Seiter and junior forward Marlo Oyster from Gahanna, Ohio, were named to the MOC All-Academic Team. Oyster, a Psychology major, has posted a perfect 4.000 grade point average, while Seiter, an Elementary Education major, has compiled a 3.533 grade point average.
The Lady Cougars are currently 16-15 overall and will return to action on Tuesday, February 24, when the team hosts Ohio Dominican College at 7:00 p.m. in the first round of the MOC Tournament.
