"Cougar Soccer Players Receive All-American Honors"

written by Dave Parsons, Assistant Sports Information Director

Mount Vernon Nazarene College soccer players Scott Dapprich and Josh Bush were recently honored when the National Christian College Athletic Association released its All-American and Academic All-American teams.

Dapprich, a senior forward from Mount Vernon, Ohio, was selected to the NCCAA All-American Second Team. He led the Cougars with a school-record 25 goals in 1997 and also added 17 assists for a school-record 67 points on the season. Even more impressive is the fact that this was his first year of playing intercollegiate soccer after spending four years as a starter on the men's basketball and baseball teams.

Bush, a junior goalkeeper from Mount Vernon, Ohio, was selected to the NCCAA Academic All-American Team. Bush, who has compiled a 3.559 grade point average, set a new school record with six shutouts during the 1997 season.

The Cougars finished the season with a school-best 14-6-1 mark and a 4-3 Mid-Ohio Conference record.
