Tara Seiter, a member of the Mount Vernon Nazarene College women's basketball team, has been selected as the National Christian College Athletic Association National Women's Basketball Player of the Week for her performances in games played during the week of December 8-14.
Seiter, a 6-foot junior forward from Waldo, Ohio, led the Lady Cougars to a 2-0 week with both victories coming at the Wendy's Bluefield (VA) College Classic. In the first game, Seiter scored 13 points and grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds as MVNC defeated Averett (VA) College 90-84 in overtime. In the second game, she scored a team-high 13 points and grabbed a game-high 12 rebounds in just 20 minutes of action as the Lady Cougars knocked off Kentucky Christian College 75-48.
For the week, the former River Valley High School standout averaged 13.0 points and 11.5 rebounds while shooting 52.9 percent from the field. She also recorded five assists, two steals, and one blocked shot.
During the week, Seiter moved into sixth place on MVNC's career rebounding list with 497 rebounds. She also moved up to ninth place in career scoring with 902 points.
The Lady Cougars are currently 7-8 overall on the season and 1-1 in the Mid-Ohio Conference. The team is on Christmas break and will return to action on January 3 when MVNC will host the University of Rio Grande at 4:00 p.m. in an MOC contest.
