Mount Vernon Nazarene College forward Brad Hostasa has been named the National Christian College Athletic Association National Men's Basketball Player of the Week for his performance in games played December 1-7.

Hostasa, a 6-foot-3 junior from Newark, Ohio, led the Cougars to a 2-1 record for the week that included a second-place finish in the 1997 Food for the Hungry Holiday Invitational. For his efforts in the tournament, he was named to the All-Tournament Team.

Hostasa began the week with a game-high 15 points on 6-of-8 shooting in a victory over Ohio State University-Newark. He also grabbed six rebounds in that contest. In a win over Seneca (Ontario) College in the first round of the Food for the Hungry Holiday Invitational, Hostasa added 17 points, eight rebounds, four steals, and three assists. In the championship game, he finished with 23 points and eight rebounds in a loss to the College of West Virginia.

MVNC is now 8-2 and will travel to Tiffin University on December 6 for a 7:30 p.m. game that will tip-off the Cougars' Mid-Ohio Conference schedule.
